General information on the company

Fiat (Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino) has been founded in 1899 by Giovanni Agnelli. In 2007 Fiat auto changed its name and became “Fiat group Automobiles S.p.A”, made up of companies: Fiat automobiles, Alfa Romeo Automobiles, Lancia Automobiles, Abarth, Fiat Professional, Maserati and Ferrari, which manufacture luxury sports cars embodying exclusivity, innovative technology, and high-level performance. Philosophy of Fiat is to create cars that are centered first and foremost on people. Fiat Group Automobiles employs more than 50.000 people around the world. Fiat is the world’s 6th largest carmaker as well as Italy’s largest carmaker.

The main points of the presentation delivered by Company’ representatives

Fiat-based cars are constructed all around the world, with the largest number produced outside Italy being built in Brazil. It also has factories in Argentina and Poland. Fiat has a long history of licensing its products to other countries regardless of local political or cultural persuasion. Joint ventureoperations are found in Italy, France, Turkey, India, Serbia and Russia.

The Group’s activities were initially focused on the industrial production of cars, industrial and agricultural vehicles. Over time it has diversified into many other fields, and the group now has activities in a wide range of sectors in industry and financial services. It is Italy’s largest industrial concern. It also has significant worldwide operations, operating in 61 countries with 1,063 companies that employ over 223,000 people, 111,000 of whom are outside Italy.

Managers of Fiat Group identifies 10 WCM (world class manufacturing): logistic, early equipment, people development, environment ambient, quality control, professional maintenance, autonomous maintenance workplace organization, cost deployment and safety focused improvement.

The Style Centre is the heart of all design activities for the brands Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Fiat professional, Maserati and Abarth. The job of the Style Centre is to come up with the styling for every model, while meeting the specific needs of each.

In Fiat Safety Centre engineers and technicians every day subject cars to the most stringent tests to ensure the maximum safety, always.

The Fiat Group is working to improve the ecological performance of conventional power plants, develop alternative propulsion systems, design systems to cut emissions, find new recycling methods that will reduce environmental impact at the end of the product life cycle, and make vehicle architectures safer.
