Prof. Dr. Mladenka Balaban was born in 1972. She graduated from the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade in 1995 with a major in Banking, Finance and Insurance and obtained her Master’s degree from the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade in 2004. She defended her PhD thesis at the BK University, Faculty of Management in 2007. She regularly and actively participates in professional seminars and international meetings of foreign language teachers and gives lectures at conferences of the Association for Foreign Languages and Literature of Serbia and the Section of University Teachers of Foreign Languages, of which she is an active member, as well as the International Association of Teachers of English ELTA. rof. Balaban has published a large number of scientific papers, several books and monographs and has been a mentor in a large number of diploma, master’s and doctoral theses. She participates in numerous scientific conferences and is a reviewer for many national and international scientific journals. She is a collaborator on numerous national and international projects. She is a member of the Society of Economists of Belgrade and the Association of Economists of Republika Srpska – SWOT, from 2010-2014 she was a member of the Commission for the Professional Examination for Intermediaries and Agents in AZORS Republika Srpska, and since 2019 she has been a member of the Commission for the Professional Examination for Intermediaries and Insurance Brokers at the National Bank of Serbia.Since 2018, she has been engaged as a consultant on World Bank projects in the Ministry of Finance, namely the SOFI project, as well as the Capital Market Development Project.
She began her professional career at the CIP Traffic Institute, where she worked as a research assistant from 1996-2001. Years. From 2001-2003. 2003 she was employed at Evropa osiguranje as Head of the Planning and Analysis Department and from 2003-2005. in the position of Finance Director. From 2005-2009. she was employed at the University of BK in the position of Executive Director of Finance. From 2012-2016. she was employed at AXA Insurance as Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer, Head of Training Centre and Head of Internal Audit. From 2016 to 2018, she was employed by Merkur Versicherung as Head of the Bancassurance Department. Since 2018, she has worked as an advisor to the World Bank at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia. In addition to her career in business, Prof. Balaban built her teaching career through scientific and pedagogical activities. From 2006-2009 she was employed at the Faculty of Management BK, where she held the position of Chair of the Council of the Faculty of Management. Since 2009 she has been teaching at the Belgrade Banking Academy – Faculty of Banking, Finance and Insurance, where she was awarded the title of professor. From 2010-2012 she worked at the Institute of Economics in Belgrade as a research assistant.
