BIOGRAPHY

Education and Professional Development

Branko Živanović is a full professor at the Belgrade Banking Academy – Faculty of Banking, Insurance and Finance. He completed primary and secondary school in Šabac with distinction. In 1991–2003, he graduated and defended his master’s thesis (cum laude) at the Faculty of Economics of Belgrade University, and obtained his PhD title (cum laude) at the Faculty of Economics of Novi Sad University.

During his studies, he received the following awards for the results achieved: the award of Belgrade University for the best average of 10.00 – 1987/88, 1988/89 and 1989/90. In 1990, he was given the award of the Faculty of Economics of Belgrade University for outstanding success. He was awarded scholarships by the following institutions: Belgrade University, Republic Agency for Development of Scientific and Artistic Youth, Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund, Tokyo, Japan.

He was a visiting scholar at: Business School – University of Greenwich, London UK, SAA Torino – University of Turin, Italy, University Danubius, Galați, Romania, Graduate School and Research of Economics and Management – Université Côte d’Azur Nice, France.

The field of his scientific and research work includes: aspects of credit analysis in corporate banking, interest rate and currency transformations, risk management in commercial banking and strategies of restructuring of non-performing loans.

Professional Career

He began his professional career at INVESTBANKA A.D. Beograd in 1992. Since 2002, he has been engaged as an Executive Advisor of commercial banks and Director in the corporate sectors at Exim Export-Import Bank A.D. Beograd and Privredna banka A.D. Beograd. He was a consultant to the National Treasury Administration, an advisor to CEO and a member of the management boards of companies in Serbia, as well as an advisor for their recapitalization and restructuring. He was a lecturer and supervisor at specialist courses – Financing of SME on behalf of the following institutions: Agency for Development of SME Belgrade in cooperation with EAR (European Agency for Reconstruction), Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, CEFE Belgrade. He was, also, a consultant on projects financed by the USAID, EU, KFW and SECO.

In 1996–2008, he was engaged at the Faculty of Management, BK University, where he was elected a teaching assistant, assistant professor and associate professor. In 2008, he was elected an associate professor at the Belgrade Banking Academy. In 2009, he was elected head of the Economics and Banking Department. In 2022, he became a full professor. From 2009 to 2017, as a visiting professor, he was engaged in the master’s programme of the MBS of Mediterranean University in Podgorica.

He served as a member of the Steering Committee of the SYLFF Fund, Tokyo, Japan, branch in Serbia and a member of the Council of Union University Belgrade.
