GLOBAL ECONOMIC TRENDS – CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES
26-27 NOVEMBER 2026 | BELGRADE BANKING ACADEMY, BELGRADE
Belgrade Banking Academy – Faculty of Banking, Insurance and Finance, in cooperation with the Graduate School of Management, Saint Petersburg State University (Russia), the Technical University of Košice (Slovakia), the Institute of Economic Sciences (Serbia), and the Faculty of Economics, University of Tuzla (Bosnia and Herzegovina), is organizing the conference in Belgrade on 26-27 November 2026.
The objective of the conference is to bring together scientists, researchers and policymakers from various countries and to provide an opportunity to exchange experiences, research results and new ideas to identify solutions and challenges to global economic trends.
At this moment, the world’s biggest challenge is still inflation which was primarily caused by the energy crisis more than three years ago and logistic problems. There is ongoing debate whether inflation is more cost-push or demand-pull, because of expansive monetary policy in the previous period. Nevertheless, almost all central banks increased the level of their interest rate scope, and all major financial institutions across the globe cut their forecasted statistics, stagflation is already a reality. Central banks therefore decided to slowly decrease the level of interest rates, bearing in mind the idea to push economic growth, but to take into account the high level of macroeconomic and global risk. Public debt is at the highest level ever, measured on the world basis.
The scope of the conference is to analyze the impact of the global economic situation due to many severe factors on different spheres of the economy (financial markets, macro-economies, industries, service sectors, etc.). A priority is given to papers with the analysis of quantitative data, but also welcome are studies with theoretical discussions.
